A Picture of New Brighton circa 1912

New Brighton and Tower circa 1912

This picture was taken in about 1912 about 30 metres from where we live. The tower in the background was 100 feet (30m) higher than the famous Blackpool Tower which is still standing. The tower fell into disrepair during the First World War and was demolished in 1919. The Tower Ballroom had a capacity of over 2000 people and that survived until the early 1960's when it burned down.
