My interests are wide and varied but if you want to see some of the things that interest me, follow some of the following links to sites I find interesting
I have long been fascinated by the First World War and the following site The World War One Document Archive is one to which I have contributed, you can find out more about the WW1 mailing list from this site. In fact, my node name derives from Britain's most decorated soldier of WW1, Captain Noel Godfrey Chavasse, VC and Bar, MC RAMC, click on his name to read the story of this remarkable man who died on 4th August, 1917 during the Third Battle of Ypres. Other more than worthy sites about this catastrophic conflict are The Western Front Association, (of which I am a member, our local branch now has its own website) Trenches on the Web, Hellfire Corner , The Imperial War Museum and last but not least The Commonwealth War Graves Commission. On on related but often neglected part of the Great War, Mike Roden's 'Aftermath' site, tells the tale of what occured when the boys came home, this is one of my favourite websites, I can heartily recommend a visit.
My other long standing hobby is Astronomy. The Internet is full of Astronomy sites but NASA's home page has a wealth of information and some fabulous pictures from the Hubble telescope. Andrew now has his own telescope, A Meade ETX-90EC and shows every intent in following in my footsteps. The Meade site has some amazing pictures taken with their telescopes. Take a look if you have time.
On a lighter note, I have long been a Science Fiction fan and at present, my favourite show on TV is Babylon 5. The The Lurkers Guide to Babylon 5 is about the best site I have found for information on the show. My favourite authors probably include some you may not have heard of: Eric Frank Russell is an almost forgotten master who has written some marvellously funny and irreverant Science Fiction, not forgetting James H. Schmitz and Sterling E. Lanier. Sadly, it is almost impossible to find their books on sale anywhere now a days. If anyone knows of a source please email me.
My brother Graham currently in Muscat, Oman has his own webpage, why not pay him a visit?
Thats all for the present but I doubt this page will ever be finished
so if you are a friend, please call again.
